Note to self: When wearing a GoPro camera, remember that it picks up excellent audio, too.
This is Anthony Russo, a star pro-style quarterback from Archbishop Wood in Philadelphia. He’s committed to play at Rutgers, and seeing as how he’s one of the nation’s top-11 quarterback recruits as determined by the Elite 11 staff, he will probably get a chance to get on the field pretty early in his collegiate career.
Luckily, he doesn’t have to sing the playcalls in the huddle, because we now know that the drop back passer can’t hold a tune to save his life. Russo spent Tuesday at the Elite 11 camp wearing a GoPro camera strapped to his head, and it picked up a steady stream of Russo singing along to the background tunes as he went through drills.
If he were John Legend, this might be an acceptable proposition. Russo is not John Legend.
As tough on the ears as it may be, Russo’s attempts to rhapsodize are still pretty endearing, If nothing else, they showcase Russo’s larger than life personality and confidence, factors which should help pave the way to success for him in New Jersey.
