The Gainesville (Ga.) high school football team is known as the Red Elephants. It’s a unique if slightly strange nickname, but after watching senior safety Chris Lyles make this one-handed interception it totally makes sense. Lyles gets so much extension with his right arm that it almost looks like an elephant’s trunk reaching up to grab some fruit from the top of a tree.
Lyles is no stranger to interceptions, including a four-interception game earlier this season. After last night’s 24-14 win over Loganville the Red Elephants stand in second place in Region 8-AAAAA, so Lyles will have the chance to showcase his talents in the state playoffs.
