How do you one-up a successful field goal that is held by a teammate’s nose? Move back the yardage and have a compatriot hold the ball with his tongue.

That’s precisely the recipe cooked up by St. Paul star Austin Means in New Orleans. Means lined up a practice kick from a full 50 yards, then had one of his teammates hold the ball with his tongue. Yes, his tongue. Incredibly, it worked.

Mears’ notable make was recorded by the New Orleans Times-Picayune, which received the video from Means’ proud St. Pauls teammates. Whether there’s anywhere the kicker can go from here remains to be seen. One thing is certain: He won’t be afraid to put a teammate in the line of fire for the sake of personal acclaim.
