It’s too early to lock in full prospect rankings for the Class of 2018, but when they do expect Ronaldo Segu to be right near the top of the point guard ranks.
Segu, who goes by the nickname ‘Rondo’ for reasons that become more apparent after watching the highlight reel above, is an absolutely dizzying talent from Orlando, Fla. The Olympia High star has the ability to cross up a defender from two paces away and is all too happy to play the role of expert distributor as opposed to sharp shooter or “shooter in chief” as so many young guards revert to.
That’s not to say that Segu can’t score. He can, it’s just that he’s a far more complete offensive fulcrum than just a scorer.
In the Home Team Hoops highlight reel above he dissects multiple defenders in the lane, confuses others on the perimeter before cutting in, drops dimes with side shovel passes and mixes in a couple pretty deep shots when left wide open.
So what’s Segu’s weak spot? We aren’t sure yet, and that’s a scary factor for all the teams who will have to line up against he and his Olympia teammates this winter.
