En route to the Class 4A state title, Kennedale’s girls soccer team got one of the goals of the season from star Alondra Olmos.
Lining up for a corner conceded by finalist foe Princeton, Olmos opted for a direct shot on goal. It’s a crazy strategy that almost never works, except this time it did.
The goal from the corner spotted Kennedale a 3-0 lead in the second half as the Wildcats cruised to a 4-1 victory in the neutral site title game. It was one of two goals scored by Olmos, who teamed with junior superstar midfielder Allie Thornton to provide Kennedale’s offense.
“It’s unreal,” Thornton told the Dallas Morning News. “An unbelievable feeling.”
An unbelievable feeling with Olmos right at the center, because of an amazing goal and a new state title.
