It’s very early, but it will be very hard for anyone to top the buzzer beater you see above all basketball season long.
This remarkable last-second shot came during Hillwood’s narrow victory against White’s Creek. With the game tied, White’s Creek held for the final possession and eventually fired up an attempt with just seconds remaining. The problem was that Hillwood’s Da’Quan Summers was there to defend and reject White’s Creek’s best attempt to win the game. In the process, that block bounded out to Montereon McKissack, who surged on to the ball and let fly in full leap from well behind midcourt.
Never had a backboard been more friendly, with McKissack’s shot glancing off the board and in for the extremely unlikely game-winner in the 49-46 victory, the second time already this season that Hillwood has topped White’s Creek.
By season’s end something may top it, but it will take some shot. And even then, the game-winner wouldn’t be as complete as the two-pronged winner (block then buzzer beater) turned in by Hillwood in the season’s opening weeks.
