It’s pretty easy to overlook any game that finishes with a final score of 57-18 when combing through the box scores for drama, but one recent contest of just such a vintage in California may have provided us with the best long distance bomb of a buzzer beater of the year.
The wild footage you see above comes from Tesoro High — victors in the aforementioned rout against Dana Hills — where senior guard Blake Fulford found himself holding a rebound as the final second on the clock was rapidly evaporating. Fulford had just enough time to swivel and fire, heaving the ball the length of the court like a nice Aaron Rodgers pass down the seam.
Incredibly, the long distance prayer bounced right off the backboard and in, proving once and for all that it was definitely Tesoro’s day (and probably not Dana Hills’, for that matter).
At just 6-foot and 160 pounds, you probably won’t see Fulford hit the court as a member of the starting lineup for any Pac-12 teams next year. That doesn’t matter. He’s already provided one indelible shot that will live on in the memory of Tesoro fans for years to come.
