When your Urban Meyer’s son, and you’re playing high school football five minutes up the road from where your dad’s coaching defending national champion Ohio State to another undefeated start, you better be pretty good, unless you want to be subjected to some serious smack talk.
And it appears, at least from his highlight reels, Bishop Watterson (Columbus, Ohio) sophomore Nate Meyer is pretty good at football. Making an impact all over the field, he’s collected 23 tackles, 11 receptions and a pair of interceptions as a 6-foot, 175-pound wide receiver and free safety.
This season marked the first for Meyer on Watterson’s varsity roster. The Eagles finished 6-6 and reached the second round of the Division III state playoffs this season, a year after winning just two games and failing to reach the postseason. Meyer is also a standout baseball player at the school.
It’ll be awfully interesting to see if Meyer receives a scholarship offer from his dad down the line. And it’d be really awkward if another coach offers him first and comes calling on a house visit.
