WARREN – The Marysville wrestling team placed fourth out of 16 teams Saturday at the Warren Woods Tower Clash of Champions.
Kyle French (103), Nino Bastianelli (119) and Austin Thompson (145) each won individual titles with each going 5-0. Cody French (119) and Tom Ryan (152) each went 4-1 to place second in their division.
Evan King (135) was fifth after going 4-1 and Nick Hall (112) and Dante Chrcek (189) each placed sixth after going 3-2 for Marysville.
Warren Lincoln Team Tournament
WARREN – The Capac wrestling team went 2-2 to place seventh at the Warren Lincoln Team Tournament.
Capac defeated Orchard Lake St. Mary’s 63-18 and Birmingham Groves 54-21, but lost to Stoney Creek 33-30 and Warren Lincoln 48-18.
Brad Harris (215) and Lathen Mardlin (285) each went 4-0 for the Chiefs.
BAY CITY – The Yale Bulldogs were 0-5 on the day, falling to Anchor Bay, Lapeer, Clarkston, Dow and Roscommon.
Tyler Bundon (145-152 pounds) went went 5-0 for Yale and Jeff Schutt (135-140) was 3-0. Troy Bundon (135-140) was 4-1 on the day and Jaedon Johnson was 3-2 at 152 and 160 pounds.
Yale (4-11) will return Wednesday against Imlay City and Croswell-Lexington.
Schwartz Creek Team Tournament
SCHWARTZ CREEK – Croswell-Lexington ended its day at the Schwartz Creek Team Tournament in fourth place with a 3-2 record.
The Pioneers topped Mount Morris 45-33, Schwartz Creek 52-24 and Owosso 34-18. Their losses came against DeWitt (57-11) and St. Louis (36-26).
Cros-Lex had two wrestlers go 5-0, with Brandon Turner at 130 and Colin Lieber at 152.
The Pioneers had three 4-1 performances with Trevor Woodruff at 145, Keagon Silverthorn at 160 and Jase Jolly at 189.
LAKE ORION – The Port Huron High School powerlifting team was one of the big winners Saturday at the Lake Orion regional.
The Big Reds girls won the overall competition. Nicole Buck (123), Sydney Grygorcewiz (132) and Kourtney Thomason (155), Chanel Sheffer (165), K’sea Lamert (181) Dayle McKinley (220) each placed first in their respective divisions.
The Big Reds boys won the the 9th and 10 grade division. Brandon Despain (132), Marco Bolar (165), Alex Washington (194), Jeffrey Segar (220) and Austin Dunn (242) each won their respective divisions.
The Big Reds boys also won the 11th and 12th grade division. Parish Meadows (152), Ravin Randall (207), David Pettway (242), Lawrenz Brown (275) and Tyson Portis (super heavyweight) each won their respective divisions.
The Cros-Lex girls team placed second at the regional at Lake Orion, qualifying 21 individuals for the state meet.
Kylie Klaas was the overall winner in the 114 pound weight division. Miranda Gates (97), Megan Jex (105), Ariana Powell (165), McKenzie Woodruff (181) and Autumn Macey (220) each placed second. Kiera McNeil (97), Sam Garcia (132) and Morgan Clauss (145) each placed third.
