Here’s a look at the week’s candidates for LSJ prep athlete of the week. Voting is open until noon Wednesday.
 

 
JOEY LASHBROOK (LANSING CATHOLIC/WAVERLY SWIMMING): The junior registered a pair of top 10 finishes at the MISCA meet Saturday in Bloomfield Hills and broke a school record in the process. Lashbrook broke a 31-year old program record (previously held by Chris Krupiarz) by finishing third in the 100 backstroke in 54.12 seconds and was ninth in the 200 individual medley in 1:59.90. Both events had more than 70 entrants. Lashbrook moved atop the CAAC honor roll in the 200 IM and to second on the charts in the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle with his performances last week.
 
DYLAN PATTON, LESLIE BOYS BASKETBALL: The junior averaged 17.5 points, 19 rebounds and seven blocks while helping the Blackhawks to a pair of wins and move a half-game out of first behind Lakewood in the Greater Lansing Athletic Conference. Patton hit the game-winning basket in the closing seconds Friday to help Leslie to a 43-41 win over Lakewood. He finished with 17 points, 16 rebounds and six blocks in the contest. Patton had 18 points, 22 rebounds and eight blocks in a victory over Springport Tuesday.
 
JAEDIN SKLAPSKY, EATON RAPIDS WRESTLING: The senior played a key role in the Greyhounds’ team Division 2 district title and also captured an individual district title Saturday. Sklapsky posted a 3-2 win at 140 pounds over DeWitt’s Austin Melton in what was a key victory in No. 4-ranked Eaton Rapids’ 42-23 win over the No. 5 Panthers in the the district title match. He followed by posting a win by fall over DeWitt’s Chandler Reed to win the 135-pound weight class at the Division 2 individual district at Mason.
 
JENNA SWAIN, LANSING CATHOLIC GIRLS HOOPS: The senior guard averaged 17.5 points while helping the Cougars to wins over Fowlerville and Ionia that extended their win streak to three and pushed them over .500. Swain scored 24 in a 63-40 win over Owosso on Tuesday and added 11 points in a 37-31 victory over Ionia on Friday.
