Here’s this week’s LSJ prep athlete of the week candidates. Voting is open until noon Wednesday. (Poll best viewed in Firefox, Chrome)
 
 
ZACH BERRY, HASLETT BASEBALL – Keyed a doubleheader sweep of Lansing Catholic by going 6 for 9 and driving in nine runs and also picking up a pitching victory. Berry had a grand slam and drove in five in the 14-3 win in the second game. He allowed just four hits in five innings on the mound and was 3 for 4 at the plate in the 14-2 win in the opener.
 
LEXI CORNWELL, MASON SOFTBALL – The senior picked up three pitching wins while helping the Bulldogs sweep Okemos and Jackson in doubleheaders. Cornwell also was  3 for 3 with three runs in the opening game of the sweep of Okemos. She was 2 for 4 while helping Mason wrap up a sweep of Jackson in the second game of the twinbill.
 
SARA HURST, LAINGSBURG SOFTBALL – Helped the Wolfpack improve to 11-0 with five victories last week. Hurst was the winning pitcher in victories over Everett, Fowlerville and Battle Creek Pennfield. The senior also had games with three hits against Everett and Charlotte.
 
NIKO VOUTSARAS, LANSING CATHOLIC BOYS GOLF – Helped Cougars win the East Lansing Invitational on Monday and the small school portion of the Dick’s Sporting Goods Invitational over the weekend. Voutsaras shot the second-lowest score for Lansing Catholic with a 76 during the East Lansing Invitational. He was the team’s low scorer with a 73 at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Invitational.
