Here are this week’s candidates for LSJ prep athlete of the week. Voting is open until noon Wednesday. (Poll best viewed in Firefox, Google Chrome).
PAIGE DUTCHER, WILLIAMSTON GIRLS TRACK – Helped the Hornets win a Division 2 regional title at Linden. She won the 400 in 59.78 seconds and was part of the winning 1,600 relay team for the Hornets. Dutcher was also part of the third-place 800 relay team and took third in the long jump (16-10).
JOE GRUNDSTROM, MASON BOYS TRACK – Won the 100 in 11.0 seconds and the 200 in 22.82 seconds and also was part of the winning 400 relay while helping the Bulldogs win a Division 2 regional Friday.
ZACH ROSENDALE, ST. JOHNS BOYS GOLF – Was the CAAC overall individual champion and also helped the Redwings win the Bedford Invitational on Saturday. He tied for the team low score with a 71 as St. Johns set a school record with a team score of 299 at the invite.
EMILY STRUBLE, OKEMOS TENNIS – The reigning Division 2 No. 1 singles state champion opened the MHSAA tournament by claiming a No. 1 singles regional title. She defeated Mason’s Olivia Hanover in the title match. In the process Struble helped the Chiefs capture the team Division 2 regional crown.
