EMILY BARKER, LAKEWOOD GOLF:The senior set a school record during a strong week that included her earning medalist honors at each of the Vikings’ events. Barker fired an 82 to take first at the East Lansing Invite on Monday. She followed by earning medalist honors in the GLAC jamboree at Perry and in matches against Ionia and Stockbridge. Barker carded nine-hole rounds of 39, 38 and 32. The round of 32 against Stockbridge on Thursday set a nine-hole school record.
SYDNEY FOUNTAIN, OKEMOS VOLLEYBALL: Helped the Chiefs stay perfect in the CAAC Blue with a key four-set road victory over rival Holt on Tuesday. Fountain had 33 assists and three aces while helping Okemos improve to 17-7.
DAKOTA RYAN, CORUNNA FOOTBALL: The senior wide receiver/safety had three tackles and four interceptions while helping the Cavaliers improve to 4-1 with a 20-8 victory over previously unbeaten Flint Beecher. Ryan also had four receptions and had a touchdown in the fourth quarter to give Corunna its final points. The 4-1 start for the Cavaliers is their best since 2002 when they went 9-0 in the regular season.
JARED SMITH, PEWAMO-WESTPHALIA FOOTBALL: The junior running back set a school record Friday by rushing for 343 yards on 17 carries in a 49-7 victory over Fulton. Smith also had four touchdowns while helping the Pirates improve to 5-0. Smith leads mid-Michigan in rushing with 1,145 yards and 20 touchdowns.
