Anthony Perry went 1 for 3 with two RBI to lead Wappinger over LaGrange, 3-2, in the first round of pool play in the District 17 All-Star Senior League baseball tournament on Saturday.
Perry’s two-run single in the fourth inning gave Wappinger a 3-2 lead. Perry also allowed one earned run, scattered six hits and struck out three in 4 2/3 innings to earn the win.
Phil Scarano scored two runs. Brandon Figueroa pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief to earn the save. Jon Iula and Blase Byrne each had a hit for LaGrange. Wappinger faces Hyde Park at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Creek Road Park in Hyde Park.
Junior League baseball
LaGrange defeated Pleasant Valley, 6-2, in pool play for the District 17 tournament, with Knox Dyal allowing three hits and striking out five in five innings.
John Gioia struck out two in scoreless innings of relief. LaGrange hosts Wappinger 6 p.m. Tuesday at LaGrange Park.
Hyde Park 17, Wappinger 8: Patrick Vivalda had two hits, two walks, three RBI and three runs and allowed no earned runs in three innings to lead Hyde Park in the first round of pool play in the District 17 tournament.
Evangelos Patsis had a triple, four RBI and two runs, Conor Harris had three hits, two RBI and two runs, Tyler Landolfi had two runs and two RBI and Dylan Merritt walked twice and scored twice.
Phoenix Bowman and Bobby Travis each had a double, and Quintin Bowman and Brett Erish each pitched a scoreless inning for Wappinger.
Hyde Park visits Red Hook at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Red Hook Recreation Park.
