The Cotter Warriors picked up a big 3A-1 East road victory on Tuesday night, defeating the Mountain View Yellowjackets, 58-40, at Mountain View.

Junior Matthew Gorbet tossed in 20 points for Cotter, which improved to 10-4 overall, already matching its win total from last season.

The Warriors, who now are 2-2 in conference play, received 13 points and five assists from sophomore Dawson Burns and 11 points and six rebounds from Taran Eaton.

Coach Chad Wheeler’s club returns to action on Monday when it hosts the league-leading Marshall Bobcats at Cotter Coliseum.

The Lady Warriors fell to 1-3 in the 3A-1 East with a 45-30 loss to the Lady Yellowjackets.

Ruth Wiesboeck led Cotter (4-9 overall) with seven points, while Alexa Wooten added six.

Mountain View was a 45-24 winner in the junior boys’ game.

Cole Adams led Cotter (3-4, 0-2) with nine points, Isaac Jones added four and Trevor Reese totaled three to aid the Junior Warriors.

The Junior Warriors were scheduled to meet the Junior Yellowjackets for the second consecutive night on Wednesday, meeting at the Norfork Junior Invitational. Results were not available at press time.
