Watkins’ Jordan qualifies for nationals

Watkins Memorial senior Andrew Jordan already has proven to be the state’s best. Now, he will have a chance to see where he ranks among the country’s best.

Jordan placed fourth Saturday during the Foot Locker Midwest Regional championships to qualify for the national meet to be held in San Diego on Dec. 12. Jordan, who won the Division I state title earlier this month, ran a time of 14:59.1, placing behind three runners that ran 14:57 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Other local runners competing in the regional meet were Watkins’ Daniel White (63rd, 16:03.1); Granville’s Joe Pappas (110th, 16:30.5); Newark’s Owen Keith (121st, 16:38.3); Watkins’ Erik McKean (150th, 16:56.8) and Newark’s Jacob Todd (166th, 17:08.2) and Zane Romine (202nd, 18:33.9).
