It’s 8:15 p.m. on Friday, August 21 in Webb City, Mo. Do you know where your neighbors are?

The odds are prohibitively high that they’re watching some form of prep or youth sports. That’s not too surprising, given that the annual football season opener is a major event for perennial national contender Webb City High School. The Cardinals are back in the first Super 25 rankings of the 2015 season as well, checking in at No. 21.

Yet, for a change, there’s a legitimate sports attraction playing opposite the Cardinals on the penultimate Friday night in August, and it’s a major youth sporting event to boot.

While the Cardinals are already underway on the gridiron, the Webb City Little League All-Stars, representing the entire Midwest, will compete in their first game at Lamade Stadium at the Little League World Series (LLWS). The scheduling dilemma comes after all LLWS action on Thursday was postponed due to thunderstorms.

Any time a local Little League squad reaches Williamsport, it’s a big deal. Of course, so is the start of the new football season, particularly in a place like football-mad Webb City.

So what’s a loyal Webb City citizen (Webb Cityzen, perhaps) to do? We’ve got an idea: Turn on the LLWS game on your TV and stream the Cardinals in action right here at USATODAY HSS. We’ve got all the Cardinals action this year via our partners at The Cube. Two birds with one stone, just like that.
