Week 5 preview/pick | Pleasure Ridge Park at Trinity

By

It’s the Week 5 Kentucky HS football preview with The C-J’s Jason Frakes and Chris White looking at this week’s monster games in Louisville area high school football.

PLEASURE RIDGE PARK (4-0) AT TRINITY (3-1)

Shamrocks won last meeting, 61-7, in 2012 Class 6-A state final

* Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.

* Trinity managed just one first down and 35 total yards in the second half of a 42-13 loss at Male last week. Senior Jailen Reed rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries to lead the Shamrocks, who are No. 4 in the state in The Courier-Journal’s Litkenhous Ratings. Senior linebacker Derek Lowe leads the defense with 23 ½ tackles, including 11 tackles for loss and two sacks.

* Pleasure Ridge Park is 4-0 for the first time since 2012 after blowing past John Hardin 42-13 last week.
Senior Daniel Parker, a converted linebacker, carried 12 times for 104 yards and a touchdown to lead the Panthers. Parker (27 carries, 271 yards, three touchdowns) joins juniors Montae Robinson (26-370-7) and Kris Adams (21-105-1) as solid running backs for the Panthers.

* Quotable: “I really think it only makes you better,” PRP coach Jason Hiser said of his team’s upcoming schedule (Trinity, St. Xavier, Male, Butler, Manual and Central). “You get so much better practices in on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when you know you’re preparing for those types of teams. I think by the first week of November, we’ll be a better-prepared team.”

* The pick: Trinity 35-13.
