Mansfield Senior at Wooster

Records:

Mansfield Senior 5-2, 3-1 OCC; Wooster 6-1, 4-0 OCC.

Last week:

Mansfield Senior over West Holmes 34-0; Wooster over Lexington 25-8.

Tygers:

Mansfield Senior has won four of its last five games … Four times the Tygers have scored 30 or more points … The defense owns two shutouts … Brian Benson ran for 159 yards on just eight carries — all in the first half — last week against West Holmes also scoring three touchdowns … Tag-team partner Tyquan Vickers added 96 yards on eight carries … Two of three catches by Jornell Manns went for touchdowns on the Knights.

Generals:

Wooster is atop the Ohio Cardinal Conference by itself entering Week 8 … The defense has allowed no more than eight points in a league game … In a key game last week at Lexington, Calvin Blair had a 79-yard TD catch-and-run and Trey-Quan Mathis had a 51-yard scoring run.

Orrville at Madison

Records:

Orrville 2-5, 1-3 OCC; Madison 4-3, 3-1 OCC.

Last week:

Ashland over Orrville 54-25; Madison over Clear Fork 33-13.

Red Riders:

The Red Riders have lost five of their last six games in their last season in the Ohio Cardinal Conference … The defense has surrendered 34 or more points five times this season … In the loss against Ashland, Orrville had it within 28-25 in the third quarter … The Riders came up with 14 first downs against the Arrows, getting 116 yards on the ground and 135 through the air on 20 of 31 passing.

Rams:

Madison has been a quick-striking team, outscoring opponents 64-27 in first quarters … Madison quarterbacks have completed at least 57 percent of their passes in five of seven games … Tresten Vail is 64 of 107 for 1,023 yards, 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions at QB … Tyrell Ajian and Billy Buckley have caught 37 passes for 828 yards and all 11 of those touchdowns … Kanyon Tackett leads the Rams with 53 tackles, while Braydon Adams and Colton Butler each have 48..

Lexington at West Holmes

Records:

Lexington 5-2, 2-2 OCC; West Holmes 1-6, 0-4 OCC.

Last Week:

Wooster over Lexington 25-8; Mansfield Senior over West Holmes 34-0.

Minutemen:

After winning its first five games, Lexington is on a two-loss skid … The Minutemen are averaging 201 yards per game rushing … Pacing them on the ground is Hunter Biddle with 661 yards on 85 carries for an average of 7.8 yards per attempt … A.J. Nickoli is the top threat down the field with 28 catches for 381 yards for an average of 13.6 yards per catch … Cade Stover is the top tackler with 84, while Tony Gerrell has an incredible seven interceptions.

Knights:

West Holmes has lost its last six games … The Knights are being beat by an average score of 34-16 … Four times the defense has given up 40 or more points … West Holmes held the ball for 30 of 48 minutes last week at Mansfield Senior, but produced no points.

Ontario at Shelby

Records:

Ontario 2-5, 2-1 NOL; Shelby 4-3, 3-1 NOL;

Last week:

Ontario over Willard 42-14; Shelby over Tiffin Columbian 46-13.

Warriors:

Ontario has been outscored 74-35 in the second half of games this season, and the Warriors have yet to score a touchdown in the third quarter of three Northern Ohio League games … The defense has allowed 1,439 yards rushing this season … Nick Arnold and Alex Vredenburgh are the top two tacklers in the NOL with 83 and 74 respectively … Hunter Plew is the league’s second-best punter by average at 37.6 yards per punt..

Whippets:

Shelby has been outscored 85-48 in the second half of games this season with just 12 points scored in the third quarters this year … Shelby is second in the NOL in giveaways with three fumbles and five interceptions … Dillon Thornsberry and Derek Rose lead the league with four and 3.5 sacks each … Dylan Shaffer is third in the NOL with 62 tackles … Brennan Armstrong has passed for 1,225 yards and rushed for 713 more.

Fredericktown at Highland

Records:

Fredericktown 6-1, 4-0 MOAC Blue; Highland 4-3, 4-0 MOAC Blue.

Last week:

Fredericktown over Centerburg 35-28; Highland over Northmor 35-7.

Freddies:

The Freddie are winning the turnover battle this year with 24 giveaways to 32 takeaways … Quarterback Dillon Smith is edging closer to a 1,000-yard passing season with 943 yards and nine TD throws … Smith and Brenden Reed have combined for 1,397 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns … Braxton McQueen and Kirk Manns have 41 catches for 685 yards, while Manns leads the team with four interceptions on defense.

Scots:

After losing its first three games — all non-leaguers — Highland has won four in a row … Jared Limings is the Scots’ bell cow, rushing 121 times for 808 yards and 11 touchdowns … The quarterback tandem of Max Schreiber and Andrew Stillwell are 43 of 60 for 497 yards … Satchel Denton has kicked a 38-yard field goal … Zach Baker has been a beast on defense with 51 tackles and 13 for loss and five sacks.
