Mansfield Senior at Lexington

Records:

Mansfield Senior 6-2, 4-1 OCC; Lexington 6-2, 3-2 OCC.

Last week:

Mansfield Senior over Wooster 32-6; Lexington over West Holmes 42-0.

Tygers:

Mansfield Senior is 11th in Division II, Region 5 … Since allowing 25 points in a loss at Ashland, the Tygers’ defense has turned serious allowing just six points in the last two weeks … Defensive end Mario Young has eight sacks this season, while Brian Benson leads them in tackles as a linebacker … Benson is 17 yards shy of 1,000 for his season, and Tyquan Vickers had 683 yards on the ground … The Tygers cut their penalties to four and did not turn the ball over last week at Wooster … The team has 34 touchdowns this season.

Minutemen:

Lexington is 11th in Division III, Region 8 … The Minutemen snapped a two-game losing streak last week … Lex has lost just one fumble this year … Hunter Biddle leads with 796 rushing yards and seven touchdowns … A.J. Nickoli is among the area’s leaders in receiving with 35 catches for 447 yards and three TDs … Joey Vore has thrown for 804 yards while completing 52 percent of his passes … The defense has allowed just 28 points in the fourth quarter of games … Cade Stover went over the 100 tackle mark last week and now has 103.

Rams:

Madison is 10th in Division III, Region 8 … The Rams recorded 24 first downs last week, tied for the most they’ve posted this season … Their 280 passing yards from Tresten Vail against Orrville was also a season-high … Vail now has 1,303 yards passing with a 62 percent completion percentage … Tyrell Ajian has 25 catches for 657 yards and 11 touchdowns, while Billy Buckley has 20 receptions for 368 yards and four more scores … Ajian is the team’s ground leader with 437 yards for an average of 8.2 per carry.

Arrows:

Ashland is sixth in Division III, Region 8 and controls its own playoff destiny … Since a 21-7 loss to Wooster, the Arrows have scored 165 points or roughly 41 per game over the last four … Lonzo Dampier paces the team with 788 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns, while quarterback Grant Denbow has scrambled for 403 yards … Four players have caught at least 11 passes with John Wolfe leading with 32 receptions for 423 yards … Senior defensive end Nivlek Lewis has eight sacks and two fumble recoveries.

Shelby at Bellevue

Whippets:

Shelby is 11th in Division IV, Region 13 … The Whippets are averaging 29 of their 35 points per game in the first half … Shelby has scored 46 points in each of the last three weeks … Brennan Armstrong is the top passer in the Northern Ohio League with 1,230 yards on 69 of 140 passing … He has thrown for 13 touchdowns and ran for 15 more … Derek Rose and Dillon Thornsberry rank 1-2 in the league with 5.5 and four sacks each.

Redmen:

Bellevue is 10th in Division IV, Region 12 … The Redmen are the highest scoring team in the NOL, averaging 36.5 points, while also giving up a league-best 16.1 points per game … Alec Foos is the top runner in the NOL with 1,254 yards on 183 carries and 17 touchdowns … Foos also has completed 51 of 88 passes for 840 yards and 11 more TDs and just two interceptions … Three defensive linemen for the Redmen have three sacks each.

Lucas at Danville

Cubs:

According to JoeEitel.com, Lucas has already clinched a playoff berth in Division VII, Region 24 … The Cubs are ranked No. 2 in the latest AP state poll … They have allowed no more than 14 points in a game this season and shut out three teams … Mason Galco paces the squad with 1,382 yards and 20 touchdowns, averaging 8.1 yards per carry … Jackson Hauger averages 14.5 yards and Jeb Grover 7.1 yards per carry … Rueben Luna has kicked 34 of 43 extra points and is 1-for-1 in field goal attempts … Ryan Cook is the tackling leader with 77, while Galco has seven sacks and nine tackles for loss.

Blue Devils:

Danville is ranked No. 1 in Division VII in the AP state poll … The Blue Devils are second in Region 25, but control their own playoff destiny … Loudonville scored six points on Danville last week and that was the first points allowed since Week 2 … Ridge “Shakey” Durbin is the senior quarterback and defensive end who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 230 pounds Against Loudonville, Durbin rushed for three TDs and threw for two others … Coach Ed Honabarger went over 100 wins in 12 seasons earlier this year.

Highland at Cardington

Scots:

Highland is 13th in Division IV, Region 12 … The Scots rebounded from three straight losses to start the year and are riding a five-game winning streak to lead the Mid Ohio Athletic Conference, Blue Division standings … Jared Limings went over 1,000 yards rushing with a 209-yard effort in last weeks blowout of Fredericktown … He has 14 touchdowns … Max Schreiber is 32-for-60 for 512 yards passing … Dylan Tuggle has 14 catches for 128 yards to lead the Scots … Zach Baker is the team’s leader in tackles.

Pirates:

Cardington is 12th in Division VI, Region 21 … The Pirates have won three in a row and six of their last seven … Luke McCarrell is having a standout season at QB with an area-best 1,628 yards on 78 of 134 passing, throwing for 21 touchdowns and just four interceptions … Devin Pearl is a top target with 24 catches and 809 yards with 11 TDs … Daniel Kill has 12 touchdowns with seven on the ground and five in the air … Brock Shade has recorded 5.5 sacks to lead the team, adding 9.5 tackles for loss.
