It’s that little extra something that can make a baseball game even more fun.
“I try to give the fans, the people who are here, and the players a little bit of a taste of a minor league or major league baseball game.”
Glenn McNish has been behind the mic for a few years now- almost 50 years that is.
“I got the job at Lenoir City at WLIL doing the play-by-play for the football and basketball teams,” explained McNish. “I thought I would do that for a year or two, but this coming football season will be my 49th season.”
But these days, you’ll also find him at West baseball games.
“We needed a PA announcer and I knew that was something that people really enjoyed about the games is having a quality PA person,” said West head baseball coach and Glenn’s son, Buzz McNish. “It took a little twisting his arm, but we got it done.”
He brings a different experience to the fans and the players have noticed too.
“Honestly, it’s one of my favorite parts of being at home,” said junior Cooper Thomas. “The walk-out songs get you ready to hit and he does such a great job every single game.”
For Glenn and his son, it’s a little more time to spend together.
“It’s important,” explained Buzz McNish. “It’s a thing we’ve shared our whole lives, so it’s important to me.”
