Proceeds from the event will help purchase new equipment for the school's baseball team
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On Saturday, March 7, West Charlotte High School baseball is opening their baseball stadium to the community to meet the 2015 West Charlotte Lions baseball team.
The first fundraiser of the season will feature a home run derby for fans and supporters to participate. An entry fee of $10 will provide entrants at least 10 swings with all proceeds benefiting the West Charlotte baseball team. Athletic director Chris Satterfield announced the funds will go towards new gloves, bats, balls, and batting cage equipment. Not only do supporters get to help the school purchase much-needed equipment, there are great prizes for the winners of the home run derby.
Winners will receive:
- Chicago White Sox vs Charlotte Knights exhibition game tickets
- West Charlotte athletic season pass for remainder of 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons
- Assorted exciting items
The West Charlotte baseball team will practice from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Saturday, March 7. Supporters are welcomed to attend practice as the other events will start at approximately 12:15 pm. New coach Eric Brown will be in attendance to meet fans and supporters. Brown joined West Charlotte from Wingate University where he was the pitching coach. Prior to his coaching days, he played in the New York Mets minor league farm system.
