West Charlotte boys take care of Robinson

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The West Charlotte Lions put themselves back at the top of the Mecka Conference Tuesday, defeating Jay M. Robinson and a determined Daniel Spencer 77-60.

The Lions benefited from a 19-point effort from Malik Massey and a huge first half from Simeon Carter to put the Bulldogs down 39-34 at the end of the first half.

Robinson’s Daniel Spencer, playing an elevated role due to the absence of Lavar Batts, Jr. due to injury, scored a game-high 30 points in the loss. Spencer’s ability to battle inside gave Robinson a threat to put West Charlotte in foul trouble, with Spencer going to the line a game-high 12 times in the contest.

West Charlotte will get back on the floor Friday when they host Mallard Creek. Robinson won’t have time to let the loss linger, as the Bulldogs visit non-conference foe Concord on Wednesday.
