West Point cadet Peter Kim made the most of a brief summer break, winning the 113th Met Amateur Championship on Sunday with a tense 1-up win over Ryan Snouffer in the 36-hole final on the Upper Course at Baltusrol Golf Club.
The 20-year-old from Royce Brook C.C. in New Jersey was down early in the match, but came back and built a 3-up lead with seven to play.
Snouffer, a member at Essex County who’s heading into his senior year at Seton Hall, closed when Kim made bogeys at Nos. 12 and 14. He was unable to win any of the last four holes to extend the match.
