What to watch this week in high school sports


Boys basketball: Neillsville at Columbus Catholic, 7:30 p.m. today: Both the Dons and Warriors sit at 6-1 in the Cloverbelt East Division, a half-game back from Spencer (6-0) in the league standings. Columbus put themselves in position for a big week with a 62-43 win over Owen-Withee last Friday. Neillsville beat Columbus the first time around 54-51 on the Warriors’ home court.

Girls basketball: Marshfield at D.C. Everest, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday — The lone undefeated teams in the Wisconsin Valley Conference meet for the first time this season. The Evergreens (11-0, 4-0 WVC) are the No. 2 team in Division 1 in the Associated Press state poll and have held their past nine opponents to less than 40 points. Marshfield (10-2, 4-0 WVC) received votes in the AP poll and has scored more than 50 points in nine straight games.

Girls basketball: Loyal at Owen-Withee: 7:30 p.m. Tuesday: Loyal is the only undefeated team in the Cloverbelt at 6-0 and the Blackhawks are one game back at 5-1. O-W’s conference loss came in the second week of the season to Neillsville by a score of 33-22. Whitney Baehr is the leading scorer for O-W, averaging 15.0 points per game. The Loyal duo of Karsyn Rueth and Missy Benz are averaging 12.9 and 11.9 points per game, respectively.
