Elk Mound High in Wisconsin is getting heat after posting photos on social media of its new logo painted at center court of the gym floor.
School officials acknowledge they started with the Milwaukee Bucks logo — to honor the NBA team in its home state — but made changes to attempt to make the buck more like an elk, such as higher and wide antlers, a wider nose and adding Elk Mound’s observation castle, according to WQQW.
“Our goal was really to create a logo for Elk Mound, but also to honor the Bucks,” Paul Weber, the principal and athletic director at Elk Mound, told WQQW. “Many schools are inspired and use portions if not the entire logo from professional and college teams. We feel we haven’t done anything that other schools haven’t done with logos that they use.”
The school said it redesigns the floor every 10 years or so.
