Winthrop (Mass.) has suspended all varsity football activities while an investigation is ongoing after a video of a student changing was circulated, according to the school district and police.
A senior has been suspended, according to the school.
Police said more than 10 other students saw the video that was circulated among the team — and potentially beyond — and police are questioning them and their parents
In a statement, the school said, “On Tuesday, October 6 the administration was made aware of an incident that took place within the boys locker room involving members of the high school football team. The incident is currently under investigation. Parents of students involved have been notified. Although the investigation is still in the preliminary phase, all football activities including Friday’s game against Gloucester will be suspended.”
Police are investigating the incident and cooperating with the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office. It is not been determined whether charges will be filed.
“It’s an ongoing education for our students and our community to make sure that people take responsibility for their actions and know there is a price to pay for their actions,” Police Chief Terence Delehanty said at a news conference.
