West Lafayette’s Lauren Johnson won the girls race at the Mid-East Meet of Champions on Saturday at Kettering, Ohio.
Johnson crossed the finish line in 18 minutes, 17 seconds, in a competition that featured all-star senior teams from Indiana, Michigan, Illinois and Ohio. Johnson’s sister, Kristen, was fourth in 18:34 to help Team Indiana capture the championship.
in the boys race, the Red Devils’ Cooper Williams took second in 15:45. Teammate Evan Johnson was 18th in 16:13 as Team Indiana completed the sweep.
Central Catholic and West Lafayette will begin selling state finals football tickets on Monday.
The Knights, who take on Linton-Stockton at noon Friday, will sell $15 tickets from 2-5 p.m. Monday in the athletic office. Fans can purchase tickets during two different times Tuesday. The athletic and main offices will have tickets on sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets also will be available during the junior varsity and varsity girls basketball games at McHale Gymnasium from 6-8 p.m.
Tickets will be on sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday in the athletic office only.
West Lafayette will be selling tickets for the Class 3A state championship game from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday in the school’s athletic office. T-shirts also are available for purchase for $10.
The Red Devils take on Chatard at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Another dominating performance by Myka Roth helped the visiting Oracles go 2-0 on the weekend.
Roth had 25 points, all coming in the first three quarters for Delphi (5-1). Tatum Minier scored her 17 points in the first half,which saw the Oracles take a 46-19 lead. Bailey Gasser was also in double figures with 11 points.
Freshman Katelynn Hall scored 17 points and Destinee Boatman had 10 for Frontier (4-2).
Emily Barber and Marijka Lynch-Pastoor each scored 18 points for the Bombers (3-4), who won their second in a row.
Barber also contributed six rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots. Lynch-Pastoor had three assists and three steals.
Morgan Fleming chipped in 11 points, five assists, four steals and three blocked shots. Kylie Nugent grabbed nine rebounds, blocked two shots and had four steals.
