Maggie Wodicka led a balanced West Lafayette offense with 21 points and helped the Red Devils defeat Delphi 67-56 Thursday night in Hoosier Conference girls basketball.
Abby Martin added 15 points, and Kylie Martin scored 11 for the Red Devils (3-0). Kaia Harris just missed a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds. Wodicka also recorded four steals as WL forced 25 turnovers. Kylie Martin handed out six assists.
Abby Martin and Wodicka combined for 19 points in the second half to help West Lafayette fend off a Delphi comeback attempt.
Myka Roth scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds before fouling out for Delphi (2-1). Dani Swayze contributed 16 points for the Oracles.
The young Mavericks won their season opener, getting 16 points from Colleen Leonard.
Laura Shake added 12 points as McCutcheon, which has no seniors on the roster, expanded a two-point halftime lead to 12 in the third quarter.
Fountain Central 52
Another dominating performance by Macee Williams — 21 points, 17 rebounds, three blocked shots and six steals — led the Mustangs (2-0).
Kyla Keeling added 12 points for Fountain Central, which outscored Southmont 19-7 in the second quarter to take a 27-13 halftime lead.
Katie Chadd scored 12 points and Reagan Case added 10 for Southmont (1-3).
North White 53
Rensselaer had no answer for North White junior Audrey Minix, who scored 23 points and grabbed 21 rebounds.
Freshman Sara Rose added 12 points and four steals for the Vikings (2-0). Maci Heimlich handed out seven assists and grabbed six rebounds to go with her six points.
Marijka Lynch-Pastoor led Rensselaer (1-3) with 16 points, five rebounds and seven steals. Morgan Fleming added 15 points, six assists and three steals.
