Tuscola alum Justin Woods won the Valley Baseball League All-Star game’s home run derby on Sunday in Harrisonburg, Va.
Woods hit a total of four home runs in two rounds, including two in the finals.
He is currently batting .224 for the VBL’s Woodstock (Va.) River Bandits with 19 RBIs, four doubles and three home runs.
Woods graduated from Tuscola in 2012, earning All-Western North Carolina Athletic Conference honors as a senior with a .443 batting average, 21 RBIs and two home runs. Woods will be a redshirt junior infielder at UNC Asheville next spring.
