The Arlington High School wrestling team placed second on Saturday at the Chris Hernandez Memorial Tournament, hosted by Yonkers High School, and the Admirals’ Ulises Olmedo was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler among sophomores.
Olmedo was Arlington’s lone winner, defeating Nanuet’s Akif Ahmad by technical fall, 17-2, at 106 pounds, though several other Admirals placed in the tournament.
Gavin Pasqualini at 113 pounds and Tanner Nielsen at 195 placed second, while 126-pounder Chris Gresis (5-4) and 160-pounder Brenden Kelly (forfeit) took third.
Three other Admirals, Dennis Robin (99 pounds), Mike Stanek (145) and Nick Basso (220) earned fifth-place finishes.
Arlington was wrestling without 138-pounder Brady Robin, who reached the quarterfinals of the Eastern States Classic at SUNY Sullivan in Loch Sheldrake on Saturday.
