Naples High School’s Tyler Byrd leaps for a pass against Charlotte during the Class 6A Region 3 final Friday at Naples High School. Naples beat Charlotte 35-0.

Eleven players from Southwest Florida, including six from Naples High School’s state semifinalist team, were honored with the release of Florida’s Class 6A all-state teams Wednesday.

University of Miami cornerback commit Tyler Byrd and and University of Tennessee running back commit Carlin Fils-aime, both first-team selections, led  Naples to an 11-2 record and a berth in the Final Four where it lost 42-21 to Miami Central.

Byrd, one of three players ever to start all four years for the Golden Eagles, took away an entire side of the field, finishing with 42 tackles and an interception. Meanwhile, Fils-aime battled back from a devastating knee injury his junior season to rush for 1,505 yards and 23 touchdowns while also catching five touchdown passes.

The duo was joined on the all-state list by teammates Chris Tremblay (second teeam offensive line), Chris Riley (third team defensive back), Jerry Nunez (third team placekicker) and defensive tackle Colton Strickland (honorable mention).

Prolific Ida Baker High receiver Rasheed Golden was the lone player from Lee County to earn a first-team nod as a utility defensive player where he notched seven interceptions. Golden finished fifth in the state in receiving yards (1,105) and caught 81 balls, nine of which were for touchdowns, in just nine games this season.

Bulldogs teammate Kaya Aydogmus was a second-team selection.

Fort Myers High running back Darrian Felix made the third team.

Honorable mentions included Barron Collier High tight end Matt Heuerman and Southwest Florida’s leading rusher, Jaheem Washington of Palmetto Ridge High.
