COACH OF THE YEAR
Taylor Nerland, South Anchorage
Nerland presided over South Anchorage’s state championship this season, helping the Wolves (11-3) avenge their loss to Chugiak in the 2015 state final.
FIRST TEAM
Player of the Year
Jonny Homza, INF, South Anchorage, 6-0/180, Jr.
Homza played a starring role in the Wolves’ run to the state championship, hurling a complete-game four-hitter and crushing a home run in a 3-1 win over Chugiak in the state final. The state’s Gatorade Player of the Year, the junior standout batted .517 for the season and tossed a no-hitter against West Anchorage earlier in the season.
