COACH OF THE YEAR
Shane Amos, Walton (Marietta)
Walton (32-4) captured the third Class AAAAAA state title in school history and the second of Amos’ 14-year tenure as head coach, knocking off region rival Pope in a two-game sweep in the state final series.
Player of the Year
Josh Lowe, INF, Pope (Marietta) 6-4/190, Sr.
Lowe earned the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year award after leading the Greyhounds to the Class AAAAAA state championship game, hitting .391 with 11 home runs and 39 RBI. A first-round draft selection (13th overall) of the Tampa Bay Rays, he had six saves and 33 strikeouts in 22 innings, with a 1.71 ERA on the mound.
