COACH OF THE YEAR
Jon Viela, Baldwin (Wailuku)
Viela certainly went out on a high note in his final season as Baldwin’s head coach (he was recently hired as Kamehameha-Maui’s new athletic director). The Bears (17-0) rolled to an undefeated season and captured the Division I state title, capping the title run with a 5-1 win over Pearl City.

Kawena Alo-Kaonohi, P, Baldwin (Wailuku), 5-11/190, Sr.
Alo-Kaonohi stood above the rest on an already loaded Baldwin team that breezed to the Division I state title this past season. The Ohlone College (Calif.) signee posted a 6-0 record on the mound with a 0.60 ERA and hurled a complete-game 5-hitter to beat Waipahu in the quarterfinals. He also batted .314 at the plate with a team-leading 14 RBI.
