COACH OF THE YEAR
Scott Baker, Basic (Henderson)
Under Baker’s guidance, the Wolves (36-4) captured their first baseball state title since 1987, knocking off Centennial in the Division I state final. Basic finished the season ranked No. 11 in the USA TODAY’s Super 25 Computer rankings.

Nick Quintana, INF, Arbor View (Las Vegas), 5-11/185, Sr.
An Arizona signee and an 11th-round draft selection of the Boston Red Sox, Quintana crushed 15 home runs and drove in 58 runs while batting .438 for the Aggies (15-15), who reached the first round of the Division I state tournament. The senior shortstop was also named the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year.
