Skyline captured the Class 4A state title under Hemphill’s tutelage, culminating with a tense 2-1 in the championship-clinching win.

The Washington signee was a perfect 11-0 on the mound this spring, posting a 1.12 ERA and racking up 101 strikeouts in 68.2 innings for a Kentwood team (24-6) that reached the Class 4A state final. Jones hurled a complete-game one-hitter in the Class 4A semifinals against Woodinville to put the Conquerors in the championship game.
