There is no exact science to player evaluation. Sometimes, a five-star prospect out of high school will perform as projected and proceed to be a first round pick in the NFL Draft, but that’s certainly not always the case. Other times, players who had only two stars next to their name develop at the next level and emerge as NFL prospects.

For the first-rounders in the 2016 draft, five of the picks were five-star prospects in high school, but only one was chosen in the top 10. There were 17 former four-star prospects in the draft. Interestingly, three players without stars, including two in the top 10, were taken.
