26-year-old assistant coach in Arkansas collapses at practice and dies

By

An assistant football coach at Hampton High in Arkansas has died after collapsing at practice, the Ouachita County Coroner told the Arkansas Democrat and Gazette.

Jorre McMahan was pronounced dead at the Camden County Medical Center. He was just 26 years old.

A cause of death has not been determined.

A former running back at the University of Arkansas at Monticello and high school star at Bauxite, McMahan was assisting head coach Wes Ables in the program’s return at Hampton. The school did not field a team last year but is 4-0 this season.

It is likely the team’s game against Camden will be rescheduled and the team will not practice Wednesday.

The loss was recognized by the Bauxite athletic programs on Twitter. McMahan was the son of the former mayor of Bauxite, Johnny McMahan.

His college coach, Hud Jackson, posted this message on Twitter:
