My picks have been accurate in 14-of-15 games in the past two weeks, after a perfect week two Fridays ago.

With one miss (7-1) last week, you’d need to be perfect to #BeatBrian.

That is what the great Mark Hobbley accomplished, as he #BeatBrian for the third time during the seven weeks of the competition.

My one miss last week was choosing Pensacola High over Arnold, a match up that tripped up many participants.

But the big upset of the week was Escambia over Tate, as only two-of-39 contestants chose that one correctly (Hobbley, Harold W. Coats).

A few storylines that unfolded with last Friday’s drama: Escambia clinched a District 1-6A title, Catholic/ Northview clinched playoff spots in their respective districts and Navarre boosted its regular-season win streak to 19 games.

This week may seem less exciting than last Friday’s slate of district showdowns, but there is still plenty of good action.

Catholic and Washington will clash for the PNJ/ESPN Pensacola game of the week, but there will be a powerhouse showdown with statewide hype in Santa Rosa County.

The Navarre Raiders will put their monstrous win streak on the line when they play host to the prestigious American Heritage Stallions — who finished runner up in the Class 3A state title game last season.

Also, post-game handshakes are back to their traditional form in Escambia County.

Here are the games for Week 9:

Rocky Bayou at Jay, 7 p.m.

Walton at Northview, 7 p.m.

Catholic at Washington, 7:30 p.m.

Pine Forest at Niceville, 7 p.m.

Choctaw at Tate, 7:30 p.m.

PHS at Mosley, 7 p.m.

American Heritage at Navarre, 7:30 p.m.

Arnold at West Florida, 7:30 p.m.
