A coach at Sheffield High in Alabama was found dead Saturday morning, days after he was placed on paid administrative leave because of a personnel investigation, AL.com reported.

Jared Mothershed, 27, was named the head baseball coach in 2015 and he coached the linebackers on the football team.

“Our focus now shifts to our students and we ask for your prayers for our students, our faculty and Mr. Mothershed’s family,” Superintendent Keith Lankford said in an emailed statement.

Mothershed’s father, John, won more than 200 games and two state titles at Deshler (Tuscumbia).

Jared Mothershed was married and had a child, according to WHNT.

A candlelight vigil had been planned for Saturday night.
