It wasn’t enough that the Sitka boys basketball team earned a spot in the Alaska state tournament. They had to go and become bona fide heroes to boot.

As reported by the Alaska Dispatch News, members of the Sitka boys basketball team noticed flames coming from an apartment complex when on their way to a team breakfast. The boys sprung into action, rushing into the complex and alerting residents by knocking, door-by-door. After knocking on the doors, the student athletes helped escort those who were still inside safely out of the building.

According to Anchorage CBS affiliate KTVA, no one was injured in the fire, thanks in large part to the Sitka boys who happened to be in the right place at the right time.

“We don’t know who they are, where they came from, or where they went,” Anchorage Fire Department fire marshal Cleo Hill told KTVA. “After they did their good deed they disappeared. We would love to say ‘thank you.’”
