Alec Fisher has been a part of nine shutouts as a defensemen for the University at Buffalo men’s soccer team this season, but few were likely as special as the Bulls’ 1-0 victory over Oral Roberts on Oct. 30.
Fisher was among eight Buffalo seniors to be honored before the victory, which gave the Bulls 11 wins in a season for the first time since 2008. It also extended Buffalo’s unbeaten streak to four games.
Now Fisher and the Bulls (11-3-2, 2-1-1 Mid-American Conference) have a chance at the MAC title when they visit first-place Bowling Green (9-5-3, 2-0-2 MAC) on Saturday for their regular season finale. The MAC Championships will follow, Nov. 11 and 13, for the league’s automatic berth in the 48-team NCAA Tournament.
Fisher is a four-year varsity member and has been a full-time starter for two seasons. On Oct. 21 against Western Michigan – a program that recruited Fisher – he had his second career assist in a 1-1 tie. Buffalo’s nine shutouts this season lead the MAC, while they have a goals-against-average of 0.85.
