When it comes to talent, excitement and success in high school sports, Southwest Florida athletes and programs are among the best in the nation.
We’re the place that built Prime Time (NFL Hall-of-Fame cornerback Deion Sanders), and the region that molded The Freak (former NFL defensive end Javon Kearse).
Every year, hundreds of our athletes go on to earn college scholarships, while a handful of our teams go on to win state championships.
Their success begs for a celebration. And so we’re having one, and all of Southwest Florida is invited.
On May 31, The News-Press Media Group will host its sixth annual All-Area Stars Sports Awards at Germain Arena. Former Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith, the all-time leading rusher in NFL history and a former University of Florida athlete, will be the event’s quest speaker.
The banquet is open to the public and tickets include dinner. Registration will begin at 5:45 p.m. with the awards program and Smith to follow from 6:30-9 p.m. For tickets, click here.
