Teammate Scott Rescigno, also a freshman, is also one of the five, and Galena sophomore Presley Mackelburg makes it three for the Grizzlies. Galena won all six of its regular-season tournaments, along with its regional title.
Reed’s Jayce Robinson won a tiebreaker to take fifth at the Regional tournament. Bishop Manogue’s Ollie Osborne finished second at the Northern Region event.
The Nevada Sports Awards honor the top athletes , as selected by the RGJ, in all sanctioned Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association sports. Athletes were chosen by a committee at the RGJ, as well as from nominations and input from the area’s coaches and athletic directors.
All the winners from each sport in the 2015-16 academic year will be honored by the RGJ with a banquet in May.
