There were many outstanding girls basketball players in the 2015-16 season, from a number of area teams.

These six represent the best of the best.

Katie Turner and Malia Holt were among the key players instrumental in leading Bishop Manogue to a perfect regular season and a Northern Region Division I championship. Mallory McGwire and Daranda Hinkey helped lead Reno to a runner-up finish in the Region tournament and a berth in the state tournament.

Also being honored are Sadaria McAlister, McQueen; and Morgan Waller, Damonte Ranch.

The Nevada Sports Awards honor the top athletes, as selected by the RGJ, in all sanctioned Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association sports.

Athletes were chosen by a committee at the RGJ, as well as from nominations and input from the area’s coaches and athletic directors.
