The top five boys and girls from the overall combined results at the Northern Nevada Ski Racing League’s state skiing championships are being honored as the RGJ’s All-North skiers for 2016.
The top girls, in order of finish, are: Cyd Curle, Galena; Savanah Martin, Spanish Springs; Maddy Najima, Reno; Mimi Hanson, Galena and Anya Bensing, Reno.
The top boys, in order of finish, are: Matt Smallhouse, Galena; Connor Novak, North Valleys; Tommy Corcoran, Galena; Daniel D’Olimpio, Wooster and Carl Moller, Sparks.
The Nevada Sports Awards honor the top athletes, as selected by the RGJ, in all sanctioned Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association sports.
Athletes were chosen by a committee at the RGJ, as well as from nominations and input from the area’s coaches and athletic directors.
All the winners from each NIAA sport will be honored by the RGJ with a banquet in May.
