Louisville, Ky. – The boys IndyStar Indiana All-Stars will go for the sweep of Kentucky on Sunday afternoon with just eight players on its roster.

Indiana All-Star game director Charlie Hall said Indiana will be without IndyStar Mr. Basketball Kyle Guy (Lawrence Central), C.J. Walker (Tech) and Kyle Mallers (Fort Wayne Carroll) for Sunday’s game at Bellarmine University. Bloomington South’s Tucker Blackwell is out with an ankle injury and Cathedral’s Eron Gordon enrolled a summer school at Seton Hall earlier in the week, leaving the team with just eight players on Sunday.
Hall issued the following statement to the Star before Sunday’s game: “The All-Star roster for the second game against Kentucky is the result of a perfect storm due to a combination of injury, graduation and unanticipated last-minute travel arrangements.”
Hall said Mallers has graduation on Sunday. Guy (Virginia) and Walker (Florida State) are leaving for college. The previous several years, the Kentucky game has been played on Friday and the Indiana game on Saturday.
“There is a legitimate concern that there are deserving players who unfortunately miss out on a roster spot,” Hall said. “Going forward we are going to identify ways to better assure the players selected to the team will be able to fulfill their entire commitment. We are confident that this group of young men and women will represent Indiana with class. Overall, we could not be happier with how this group conducted themselves the last eight days.”
The Indiana boys defeated Kentucky 106-84 on Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse for its 15th consecutive win in the series.
Last year’s Mr. Basketball, Caleb Swanigan of Homestead, missed the week due to a conflict with his schedule with the USA Basketball team.
