Preseason favorite Archbishop McCarthy (Southwest Ranches, Fla.) didn’t disappoint as the Mavericks have gone 12-0 to hold on to the top spot in the latest Super 25 baseball rankings.

There is a new No. 2 as Coppell (Texas) started the season at 15-0 to move up from the No. 6 spot.

Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.) moves from No. 25 to No. 3; JSerra (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) moves from No. 13 to No. 4; and Christian Brothers Academy (Lincroft, N.J.) remains at No. 5.

The biggest climber was new No. 6 Katy (Texas) which is 15-0 after left-handed pitcher Dave Haveman threw the team’s seventh shutout of the season on Tuesday in an 11-0 defeat of Taylor (Katy).

The other new teams in the first regular-season rankings: No. 7 Stoneman Douglas (Parkland, Fla.); No. 13 West Orange (Orlando); No. 15 Owasso (Okla.); No. 21 Buchanan (Clovis, Calif.); No. 24 South Granville (Creedmor, N.C.) and No. 25 Lee County (Leesburg, Ga.).

Defending Super 25 national champion Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.), which opened at No. 3 in the preseason rankings, is among the teams dropping out.
