Detroit Little Caesars Bantam Minor AAA can’t stop winning.
They recently just claimed their name as the state’s top team again, winning the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association State Championship on Sunday.
While the team pulls players from all around, four icers on the team call the Blue Water Area home. For Little Caesars, it was its fourth consecutive state title, but for a pair of players it was their fifth straight.
The duo that made it state title No. 5 is Tiernan and Travis Shoudy of Marysville, who also won a state title in 2012 with the Port Huron Flags.
Jacob Truscott of Fort Gratiot also won his fourth state title, winning with the Flags in 2012 and joining Little Caesars for its last three.
Mark Estapa of St. Clair Township won his third state title, but he was one of the game’s top stars as he scored the game-winner in a 2-0 win over Meijer’s AAA Hockey.
Little Caesars – coached by former Detroit Red Wing Kris Draper – is obviously no stranger to winning. They also picked up hardware last winter as they won the Pee Wee AAA Silver Stick Finals title at McMorran.
The team finished its season with an eye-popping 62-7-5 overall record, earning the No. 1 ranking in the United States on myhockeyrankings.com for the third consecutive season.
